Dr. Jared Bitner loves being an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon! It's an incredible profession that combines craftsmanship and art with compassion and service. He was born in Omaha, NE as the oldest of nine kids. His dad served in the Air Force as an Orthopedic Surgeon so he grew up all over the country and Europe. He has fond memories hanging out at his dad's office after school and riding in his old truck making house calls to patients in the community. He witnessed firsthand how integrity and compassion change lives and how good folks in the community considered his dad a friend through his selfless service. Years later he realized how much he loved working with his hands while building a Piper Cub R/C airplane and building a horse barn. These experiences had a tremendous influence on him and guided his path until he found the perfect fit: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Education & Training
Dr. Bitner graduated from high school in England. He then left home for two years to serve a Spanish-speaking church mission in Tennessee. After returning home he attended BYU-Idaho for undergraduate studies. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from his favorite dental school, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry (MCV). He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) residency at his first pick at the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center, one of the top training programs in the country. For four years he received a specialized higher level of training in IV sedation and dentoalveolar surgery including extractions, bone grafting, and dental implants. He also underwent extensive training in and developed a passion for corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery, pathology treatment, and facial trauma repair.
Family Life
Dr. Bitner married his dream girl from Teton Valley and together they have eight incredible kids. After giving everything she had through all the years away he promised he would bring her back home to raise their kids the right way, in the heart of Idaho. He enjoys wood projects, working hard outside on the farm and landscaping, horseback riding, mowing, and playing sports. What matters most to him is spending time with his beautiful wife watching their eight kids grow and develop their own interests, especially sports and farm life.
